Fashion designer Rachel Abroms has crafted a unique belt exclusively created for the 8th Annual Denim Day in LA campaign, hosted by the Los Angeles Commission on Assault Against Women (LACAAW).

More than 100,000 Denim Day in LA participants are expected to make a social statement with their fashion statement on April 19, by wearing jeans and attending the Denim Day Rally at Staples Center Parking Lot 7, as a means of openly challenging the myths and attitudes that excuse rape and sexual assault.

Rachel Abroms has built a reputation on her innovative designs, by incorporating leather, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, and vintage pieces to her designs.

The 'Denim Day' belt offers a bronze buckle dipped in gold which features three Greek goddesses: Aphrodite (goddess of love), Artemis (goddess of free will) and Athena (goddess of wisdom, war and strength). The twice-wrap-around leather belt is available in black or distressed brown. Worn in the right spirit, Abroms' belt creation will "releases the inner goddess," within each individual.

"The belt's symbolism of the goddesses represents the architecture inside each one of us: love, free spirit, wisdom and strength," said Abroms. "The line as a whole works well with Denim Day because our beliefs are similar, which is to empower, educate and engage around the issues of raising awareness about sexual assault, that's what we are about."

The belt was designed with an approachto be dressed up or dressed down. "It can go any way; its cutting-edge double-wrap can be worn with jeans or a tight-fitting skirt," said Abroms. "It's a really hip belt."

Denim Day in LA began in 1999 as part of an international protest following an Italian Supreme Court's decision to overturn a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans.
