The designer now turned her creative eye on Maheshwar where the uniquely woven fabrics were an ideal base of Krishna’s New Age collection called “Magic Woven in Maheshwar” at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014.

The collection was an ode to traditional weaves for summer wear as fluid pants, flared skirts, cool blouses, comfy tunics and swirling scarves appeared on the ramp in quick succession. The 6-yard sari too got pride of place in the collection when Krishna gave it her distinct sensibilities.

With pleats, pin tucks and texturisation, Krishna dreamt up a lively fun filled line of men’s and women’s prêt wear. Colours started with basic black, white, grey, red and moved to orange, fuchsia, aqua, indigo, purple and even more variations of the same hues.

Taking layering onto a totally different level, Krishna unleashed for men and women, three to four garments combined into one entry. Prints and weaves came together with an unbelievable line-up with appliqués and embroidery techniques along with shibori turning the collection into a mindboggling offering.

Boleros were perkily worn with saris and kurtas, waistcoats came in to accessorise the layers, skirts swished around over loose pyjamas and women’s wear presented the shorter version of the bundi. The net over printed pyjamas, churi sleeves, panelled printed dresses; smocked long sleeve tops and the final empire-line long-sleeve gown were ready-to- wear at its best.

Men’s wear did not lag behind in colour as sheer kurtas, cropped pants and unlined jackets offered a great mix and match option. A front buttoned kurta, unstructured bundgalas, unlined jackets and very wide pants were ideal summer wear.
