David S. Rose, famed “Pitch Coach” and founder of the investment organization New York Angels hosted an afternoon workshop for the incoming Fashion Incubator designers on Friday April 25th.

Mr. Rose shared best practices for entrepreneurs who are pitching their business, and also identified some of the key assets that investors look for when evaluating a business.

Specifically, Rose pointed out that potential investors are primarily looking for businesses with:
 - A large and growing market
- A scalable business model
- A competitive advantage
- External validation
- A reasonable valuation
- A leader with integrity

Following his presentation the designers jumped into a rigorous workshop to put Rose’s advice into action. Each designer was given the opportunity to pitch their business to three different groups of top investors in order to their gather feedback and recommendations.

The workshop is part of the CFDA Fashion Incubator program with New York University’s Stern School of Business. The designers have been working with a team of MBA students for the past four months on a business plan that they will have the opportunity to pitch in two weeks to a prestigious panel at CFDA headquarters. “Pitch Day”, on May 9th, marks the beginning of the two-year business development program.
