Textile along with fashion sector which were sluggish during 2005, are reported to be on the road to recovery during first part of 2006, says Paolo Zegna, President, Milano Unica, on the occasion of presenting the latest edition of the show scheduled to take place at Portello di Milano between September 12 -15, 2006.

"The worst seems to be behind us and the signs of recovery are getting better" said Zegna, "even if we're not seeing consistent progress because recovery is selective".

Results of 2005 show stability in Italian textile sector as value of production (around 8.8 billion, 0.2 percent less compared to 2004) represented 22 percent of the amount generated in total by textile-clothing industry.

Foreign markets accounted for around 65 percent of the volume of business. The third edition of Milano Unica, the Italian and European textile quality Salon, comprising shows by Ideabiella, Ideacomo, Moda In, Pratoexpo and Shirt Avenue, aimed at the foreign market, especially emerging ones.

Previous edition last September, was witnessed by almost 30,000 visitors, which saw an increase of 15 percent businesses taking part and over 5,000 coming from overseas.
