Vinatex reports sportswear exports surge at 39%

Vietnam National Textile Group (Vinatex) reports first four months of 2006 exports earnings for sports wear at $18.1 million, registering year-on-year surge of 39 percent.

The EU and the US remain top markets for these products.

During January–April 2006 period, exports revenue to the EU totaled $10.7 million, representing 135 percent rise against same period 2005.

However, the figures of the US show slight decline.

By the end of May this year, total exports turnover of textile and garment reached over $2 billion, and is expected to continue its climb through the coming months.

Vinatex plays several different roles as manufacturer, exporter, importer as well as distributor for textile and garment in wholesale and retail basis.
