Fashion Net is a project presented in the context of the EU Sixth Framework Programme and started on 1st May 2004 and concluded on 30th April 2006.
The aims of the project have been:
- To enhance the competitiveness of SMEs operating in the Fashion Industry;
- To facilitate SMEs access to the Research & Innovation Projects funded by the European Commission (i.e. IP, NoE, STREP, CRAFT, Collective and other types of projects foreseen within the Sixth Framework Programme, fostering the submission of proposals in several thematic areas;
- To promote partnerships and co-operation among relevant players of the fashion industry and those operating in the R&D sector, as well as among SMEs;
- To establish and consolidate ties and integrate networks among intermediaries operating in the fashion industry (industrial associations, incubators, R&D and sectoral technical organisation, National Contact Points and organisations supporting innovation and technology transfer in SMEs) and among clusters of SMEs.
These aims have been achieved by a series of activities like: organisation of innovation workshops, FP6 Trainings, Twinning Seminars, Exchange of personnel, together with an intensive dissemination activity (by emaling, website, newsletter).
The consortium involved 16 organisations of 8 different countries (Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Turkey, Romania).
Furthermore, building up on the experience of Fashion Net and other 2 projects presented in the same context – respectively ITE and Shoes5000 – a new project entitled “Fashion to Future” has started on 1st May 2006 with a duration of 24 months. It involves 38 organisations of 19 different countries (included Tunisia and Morocco).
