Downtown Bloomington Association is conducting surveys to accommodate various types of businesses to fill the vacancies opening up along Main Street and the rest of downtown.

This survey would reveal whether retail cloth sore is an option for the future as the city plans to develop a new comprehensive plan for the downtown district to determine a focused direction for business owners although their resolute effort is to bring people downtown.

The opening of US Cellular Coliseum and the Bloomington Cultural District is making downtown Bloomington into an entertainment district.

Downtown Bloomington never will be a retail district again, as many retailers of downtown are closing within the year.

There will be opening of more bars and restaurants of different variety and class and more service-oriented businesses on Main Street.

Downtown business owners have had mixed reactions to the opening of the Coliseum.

There has been little impact from Coliseum events on most garment retailers, particularly those who close at 5 p.m. while bars and restaurants are optimistic of reaping the benefits.
