This year's schedule will feature 59 labels and 29 individual shows, plus the Deutz Fashion Design Ambassador Awards and the AUT Rookie Show, featuring the graduates from the Auckland University of Technology's Design School, who have brought forward their curriculum to ensure they are part of the collections.

All of New Zealand's premier designers are committed to the week, with Karen Walker and Trelise Cooper returning from New York Fashion Week for the event.

Among those returning to the collections are Dunedin's Carlson, Jane Rhodes and urban streetwear label, Federation. The Verge Breakthrough Designers, who stole the show for many in 2005, are also set to impress again.

Three protégées from the Dunedin Fashion Incubator have made the grade in 2006, along with a lingerie designer from Auckland, a photographer turned designer from Cambridge, a Russian born model turned designer and a husband and wife design team, home to start their business after five years in London.

Another feature of the week-long celebrations this year is unprecedented public access to the event.

Tickets are now on sale for the Designer Collection Shows, which will feature the best of the designers' in-season garments, with highlights from their ANZFW shows.

The Designer Collection Shows offer an opportunity to visit the event and enjoy a drink in the bar or make a big night of it with friends and enjoy a dinner and show package.

Once the business of the week is complete, the doors are thrown open for Air New Zealand Fashion Week 4 U, a day-long party showcasing New Zealand music and the Designer Selection Shows on Saturday 23rd September.
