Mayor Villaraigosa to announce economic goals & receive key to Fashion District

On March 23, 2007 the LA Fashion District Business Improvement District (BID), Mayor Antionio Villaraigosa, and thousands of industry heavyweights and celebrities will ban together for the first-ever combined grand opening party for the LA Fashion Market.
Special guest Mayor Antionio Villaraigosa will make a historic announcement regarding the economic impact of the fashion industry to Los Angeles businesses and receive a key to the LA Fashion District from Rosanne Karmes, designer of Sydney Evan jewelry at 6:00 p.m.
The high profile event will entertain thousands of guests and famous Los Angeles designers such as Chip and Pepper, Adriano Goldschmeid, Tarina Tarantino, Trina Turk, Robert Rodriguez, Paul Guez (Yanuk Denim, Antik Denim), Walter, Dick Cantrell (Hard Tail), Pamela Protzel (Ella Moss), Yana K, Diane Levin (Poleci), Leejay Mitz (Iron), Sheri Bodell, Yael Alfalo (Ya Ya), Glenn Kay (Mandalay), Carilyn Vaile and Allen Schwartz (ABS), who will be available for a photo opportunity with the mayor at 5:50 p.m. The event will be located in the California Market Center's front patio and main lobby and run from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
“California already leads the nation in apparel manufacturing and with the combined efforts of the government and LA Fashion District, we are able to raise the profile of Los Angeles as the premier resource for apparel,” says Kent Smith, Executive Director of LA Fashion District Business Improvement District (BID).
