NIFT-TEA – a flourishing fashion institute

The National Institute of Fashion Technology - Tirupur Exporters' Association (NIFT-TEA) has come a long since its humble beginnings.

Non-profit fashion institute for knitwear industry by TEA, has increased its members from 45 to 108, each of whom pitched in Rs2 lakh.

Governing council has also contributed Rs15 crore for the development plan of the institute.

Raja M. Shanmugam, Vice President, NIFT-TEA, informed the media, “We have purchased an 18-acre plot between TEKIC and Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (THADCO) Industrial Complex to construct academic blocks, hostels, state-of-the-art laboratory for dyeing, knitting and pattern making, cultural centres and studios. Our endeavour is to make the institute an internationally renowned one for knitwear and it will soon become a landmark of Tirupur.”

At present, institute operates in 12 industrial units at Tirupur Export Knitwear Industrial Complex (TEKIC) in Mudalipalayam.
