The first four year batch of NIFT Fashion Design Programme passes in the year 2007. The grand finale of the collection made by these 20 students is being presented through Fashion Show on 18th May 2007 at Hotel Ashoka, chanakya Puri, New Delhi at 7.00 PM.
Fashion Design is a flagship course of NIFT and has been instrumental in giving the best designers to the fashion industry like Rohit Bal, ritu Beri, J J Vallaya, Paras, Raghuvendra Rathod, Maneesh Arora, Gaurav Gupta, Anshu Arora Sen, Niki mahajan, Rana Gill, to name a few.
The first four year batch of NIFT Fashion Designers is now ready to test the market.
The collection have come out with variety of themes like 'Penning my Mind', 'Earthen Canvas', 'Darzee No. 7', 'To Buy or Not to Buy', 'The Infinite Mind', 'My Senses Decided to Fool Me', 'Daddy don't come home tonight', 'All Happiness is Nostalgia', 'Sour Purpose', 'O Wind if winter comes, can spring be far behind' to mention.
The students have experimented with technology, non-conventional material, coloar patettes, silhouettes and fabrics.
NIFT faculty on the other hand is quite thrilled with this batch as it is the first one to come out with four years of extensive course curriculum.
Chairperson of the Fashion Design Deptt. Bani Jha particularly is very proud of these students. She informed that "Fashion Design department is known for its various experiments with textiles, textures, styling, colours, accessories etc. and these students have gone further ahead." She added, 'I am sure these students would further enhance the brand name of NIFT'.
