Techtalk 2007 - Graduation Project - Industry Presentation by National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar students took off in a style today, at Hotel Pride, Ahmedabad.
This event marks 'passing out' presentation by Graduating Final Year students who showed promise and enthusiasm equally matched with round of appaluse earned from esteemed panelists and cheering NIFTIANS.
In his opening remarks, Pavan Godiawala, Associate Professor, NIFT (AMIT) listed out its activities and role played in providing qualified manpower to the textile, apparel, fashion and retail industries.
He added that the Institute offers strong course contents to develop competency and managerial skills among its students.
Among the eminent panel of judges assessing the presentation were K B Rana (Sr General Manager, Ashima Group), P R Rathod, (Head Retail, Planet Fashion) and Zuber Patel (Senior Manager, Retail, Pantaloon Retail (India) Ltd).
S D Swaminarayan, Registrar, NIFT, in his speech stated that the institute possessed qualified staff, adequate facilities and was also contributing towards social upliftment programmes and women empowerment.
He said that Regional Design and Training Centre (RTDC) established within their Gandhinagar campus akin to a hospital in a Medical College campus, is equipped with excellent facilities for Graduate students to return and conduct research and development within the sector.
NIFT has also got funding for research in micro fabrics - a slippery kind for which, a Micro Fabric Application Research and Development Centre is being set up at Gandhinagar.
