Sue Bhanubandh, Director of Leasing, announced that the California Market Center is aggressively planning to grow the contemporary category by building a new edgy contemporary floor at the CMC.

Designed by Frank Gehry's protégé Eva Sobesky of EIS Studio, Floor 4B will be rebuilt from the ground up into a design forward, state-of-the-art showroom space named Area 4.

The finished project will feature a floor with its own identity and have exclusive amenities such as a dedicated elevator which only goes to contemporary floors, a floor concierge service that allows retailers to make the most of their trip to LA, VIP retailer check-in and restroom attendants.

“Our goal was to give manufacturers a new, inspiring space that would have its own identity,” said Bhanubandh. “We spared no expense with this project, from hiring the best architects, to using the best materials and offering premium amenities.”

The design vision for Area 4 was to create a modern space composed materials derived from nature such as wood, stone and glass. Area 4 will also feature dramatic soaring ceilings set against Italian Walnut accents; extensive glass frontage and wide corridors to give high visibility and a New York loft feel to each showroom.

The new floor also includes a Zen lounge area that highlights the sweeping city views. Additionally, a staircase will be built from 5B to 4B to make shopping the contemporary floors more convenient for retailers.
