Brazil: Leather sector delegation begin visit of African nations

An official visit of Brazilian businessmen belonging to the Leather and Shoe sector began today to five African countries.
The Brazilian Export Promotion Agency (Apex) and the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Producers of Leather Components, Shoes and Artefacts has promoted this visit.
The nations covered during the visit includes Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, South Africa and Kenya.
The delegation includes 20 businessmen who will seek business tie-ups from among these countries which produce about 150 million pairs of shoes per annum.
The visit is expected to generate business worth US $ 1.2 million in deals in the coming year.
The mission is expected to attend several trade fairs and industry events promoting Brazillian leather and footwear industry and will roundoff with attendence at Nairobi International Expo on Dec 3, 2005.
