A 'Festive Saris Collection' has been unveiled by Bengali film director Rituparno Ghosh for Weavers Studio, Kolkata's well-known handloom boutique.
In addition to the exquisite collection of handloom tussar batik printed saris, there were also hand made, hand woven textiles, ember dyed works, scarves and other items.
Along with various colours, mulberry silk, matka, tussar, gicha and ari were also used in the new line unveiled at the Studio.
There was also an evening wear line that used katha embroidery, patch works, block prints, and other traditional techniques. However, these were given contemporary look to attract the young.
The event also showcased fashion designer Paromita Banerjee's line presented from her collection for the recently concluded Lakme India Fashion Week.
She presented the best of all her Summer, Fall/Winter and Spring collections. Her wide range of shawls, waist coats, Punjabi kurtas, bandgala jackets, pajamas and double sided jackets were made using tussar, matks, khadi, cotton and handlooms.
