Venus Williams, the world-renowned ace tennis player, is going to showcase a capsule collection of her sports and leisure wear line ‘EleVen’ at the New York Fashion Week in September 2012.

The former world No.1 had originally created the collection for US-based retailer Steve & Barry’s, which went bankrupt in 2008.

The 32-year-old tennis player has a fashion degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and also has worked with Diane von Furstenberg on a line for Reebok, and her designing idol, Ralph Lauren.

The seven-time Grand Slam singles’ winner, who revolutionized the tennis court couture with her choices of colourful design-forward outfits, has designed her active wear collection to portray a blurring illusion between sports and style.

The line of classic and cool leisure wear is an eclectic mix of geometric prints, watercolour art and traditional solids.

The collection is heavy on comfy tennis skirts and other modern athletic wear in eye-catching hues.

The ace tennis player has even created a Wonder Woman-inspired Olympic outfit to match her sister Serena William’s tennis garb and is also designing menswear for her about-to-be-launched collection.
