London designer's eco-friendly line at Top Model Worldwide

Serap Pollard, an eco-friendly fashion designer from Wimbledon district of south-west London is set to rock the international ramp this month with display of her collection at the Top Model Worldwide competition to be held in London from April 12-14.
 
The Turkish-born designer would showcase her latest collection ‘Sustainable’ at the prestigious event.
 
Aiming to minimize the wastage of textile in production, various materials like silk, bamboo and denim have been used to create the eco-friendly range.
 
Due to stratification process, around 15 percent textile gets wasted in standard garment production process.
 
According to Ms. Pollard, the sooner one manages to cut material waste during production, the sooner a shift can be made towards green production.
 
Her eco-friendly ways are quite unconventional but produces quality designs, she said and added that creativity forms the base for producing sustainable garments.
 
She said her project focuses on finding out if a particular weaving technique can help in cutting material waste in garment production.
 
After working with London’s established fashion brands like Laura Ashley, the designer launched her personalized label ‘Serap Pollard London’ in 2011.
 
Before showcasing her label at the Top Model Worldwide on April 13, Ms. Pollard would display her collection at Top Model UK on April 12.
