Satu Maaranen, the young Finnish designer, has teamed up with the French fashion brand Petit Bateau to create a capsule collection for women and children.

Re-interpreting the label’s signature nautical stripes, the Helsinki-based designer has created some nine pieces each for both adults and kids, such as T-shirts, frocks, dresses and knits.

To be unveiled at the forthcoming young talents’ promotional platform Hyeres international festival of fashion and photography, the line is decorated with hand-painted wavy, small and tiny stripe patterns.

According to WWD, the range will be available for sale in around 280 Petit Bateau stores and some specialty retailers worldwide from April 29, 2014 onwards.

Maaranen was the winner of the Première Vision Grand Prize at the 28th edition of the Hyeres festival. The freelance designer creates womenswear for local brands like Marimekko.

The upcoming edition of Hyeres international festival of fashion and photography will take place from April 25 to 28, 2014, in southern France.

Petit Bateau offers a variety of comfortable and quality knitwear and underclothing for all ages.
