Rwandan fashion house, Mille Collines is planning to broaden its horizon in East Africa.

Mille Collines, which launched its first outlet in Kigali in Rwanda, now intends to expand in the neighbouring countries.

The firm chose Kenya for expansion as it knows the place well and also because the Village Market location matched well with the brand standards.

The firm has acquired a space on the ground floor of the Village Market shopping mall.

Regarding its endeavour to introduce the brand in rest of East African market, the firm said that, the drive stems from increasing appreciation for African fashion.

The fashion house established in 2007 in Kigali now has developed around 28 staff in its workshop. Besides, it has even collaborated with companies in other cities, like with those who produce accessories like buttons, or with the ones doing embroidery job.

The fashion house's collection besides being trendy embraces the African tradition and nurtures quality. Based on the same, it has bagged many customers in Spain, but still the US, where it sells through a departmental store Macy, remains to be its major market.

Presently, the fashion house is focusing on its women's clothing line.

As far as selling its products are concerned, the firm has adopted two different strategies. In the US and European markets, it sells its products through outlets which echoes the brand's ethics and values, and has also launched special collaboration collections with some of them, while in East Africa, the fashion house has its exclusive outlets which helps it to monitor the quality of service, time and design.

Besides, with good response in Rwanda, the firm is even planning to soon open a showroom in Mombasa, and then in Tanzania and Uganda.
