The annual shareholders' meeting of leading European fashion retailer Charles Vögele Holding AG on 5 April 2006 is being asked to approve the addition of an experienced fashion specialist to the board of directors. Dr Peter Littmann has been put forward for election by the board.
A possible strengthening of the board of directors was announced in the invitation to the annual shareholders' meeting that was publicised in the media on 8 March 2006.
Following a comprehensive evaluation procedure the board of directors opted for Dr Littmann, who has confirmed that he would be prepared to take a seat on the governing body of the Charles Vögele Group should he be elected.
From 1993 to 1997 Dr Littmann was chairman of the board of Hugo Boss AG, a successful international clothing business. Before that he worked at the international textile company Vorwerk & Co. for eleven years, where he held the position of chairman and CEO at the time of his departure.
Until 2005 Dr Littmann also served on the board of the Bata Shoe Corporation. Today he holds a number of advisory board positions and directorships. He is, for example, a member of the board of directors of the Basle-based company, Ciba Spezialitätenchemie AG. Dr Littmann, 59, has also been an honorary professor at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany, where he is the Chair of Marketing, since 1993.
