Puma to fashion players of 12 nations for FIFA

Puma is all set to play a big role in this year's FIFA World Cup as it is responsible to create designer sports outfits for players of the 12 participating teams.

Company has decided to manufacture these customized sports wear in Turkey.

Cemal Bilgingulluoglu, Vice Chairman, explains, “World Cup has been good for Turkey so far. Over two million items have been ordered especially, for the Cup.”

He also confirmed,” Except for Italy and Switzerland, the uniforms of all the football players and fans of the rest of the countries, that Puma will dress, have been prepared in Turkey, generating, products worth nearly US $20 million for export.”

Puma has been present in this country for past 23 years and Milteks, the family company, is their distributor.

Previously, the company had launched sports products under the Milkets brand name but then ventured into wholesale and import.

Puma, which has around two billion euros revenue in world market, will create exclusive outfits for players of Switzerland, Italy, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Ghana, Poland, Paraguay, Ivory Coast, Togo, Angola and Czech Republic in the World Cup 2006 that will begin on 9 June.
