Company reported profit after tax (PAT) of R1 billion or US $148.2 million on the sales of R6.4 billion or US $950.2.
The women's clothes and accessories sales represented 19.2 percent rise accounting for 41 percent of total retail sales.
Markham, the largest men's fashion retail chain in Southern Africa accounted for 16 percent of Foschini Group annual revenues at R1054.7 billion in 2005, closely followed by its sports division which operates through 'Sportscene', 'Totalsports', and 'DueSouth' outlets with R 904.7 million, growing by 27.5 percent over 2004.
Foschini also revealed plans to launch 80 new showrooms as their climb was expected to continue in future.
Foschini Group, the parent company of Foschini, Donna Claire, Fashion Express, Markham, and Luella, consists of 13 trading divisions, dealing in lifestyle products that range from fashion, jewellery, accessories, cosmetics, sporting and outdoor apparel and equipment to homewares.
