Women's specialty retailers AnnTaylor Stores Corporation announced that total net sales for the five-week period ended July 1, 2006 increased 22.5 percent to $235.7 million over total net sales of $192.5 million for the five-week period ended July 2, 2005. By division, net sales were $83.7 million for Ann Taylor compared to $79.2 million last year, and $124.4 million for Ann Taylor LOFT compared to $93.9 million last year.
Comparable store sales for the period increased 12.5 percent compared to a comparable store sales decrease of 1.2 percent for the same five-week period last year. By division, comparable store sales for fiscal June 2006 were up 6.3 percent for Ann Taylor compared to a 2.7 percent decrease last year, and up 18.5 percent for Ann Taylor LOFT compared to a 0.8 percent decrease last year.

Our sales momentum at both brands continued to be strong in all regions throughout the month, and we experienced increased full-price selling over last year at both concepts. The Ann Taylor division delivered its eleventh consecutive month of positive comparable store sales, and dresses, skirts, novelty woven tops, shoes and jewelry were among our strongest performers.
The LOFT division had an outstanding June, delivering its third consecutive month of double-digit comparable store sales gains. Fashion and embellishment continuedto drive sales across all categories. Casual, relaxed separates and dresses, new fashion length pants, shorts and feminine knit tops were standouts."
