Alberto-Culver buys out Salon Success

Fashion accessories retailer Alberto-Culver Company announced that its Beauty Systems Group (BSG) completed the acquisition of Salon Success, a full service distributor of professional beauty products, and provider of salon educational programs headquartered in Aylesbury, United Kingdom.

Salon Success generates annual sales of approximately $30 million and possesses Paul Mitchell distribution rights in over 15 countries in Europe, and in most of Florida and throughout Georgia in the United States.

Alberto-Culver President and CEO, Howard B. Bernick, said, "We are pleased to announce our first BSG acquisition in over a year and also our first one outside North America. While we presently have some 180 Sally Beauty stores in Florida, this is our first entry by BSG into the heart of Florida, an extremely important territory in professional salon product sales. We are optimistic about using this acquisition as the base to expand our BSG business throughout Florida and the newly acquired overseas geographies in the years ahead."

Gary Winterhalter, President of Sally Beauty Company, added, "We believe that Salon Success represents a unique opportunity for BSG to not only move into Europe and new territories within the United States, but to gain a business that is a leader in developing and implementing new and innovative industry practices."
