Designer Textiles International
Sales and profit contribution from Designer Textiles International have slowed considerably after several periods of strong growth. This business continues to achieve great success in many areas particularly with its merino offering which includes the MAPP brand growing in profile and further marketing activity in the Northern Hemisphere.

The strength of the New Zealand currency has highlighted the need for development of off-shore production facilities to sustain continued growth. Identifying and developing strategic relationships with overseas suppliers to be able to produce off-shore are in progress.

Although sales are reasonably strong, profit contribution is running at about 50 percent compared with the comparable period last year, and this trend is expected to continue through to the financial year end.

Michele Ann
Michele Ann has had a disappointing six months. Profit contribution, having been significant in recent years, was well down compared with the comparable period last year. Profit contribution will be negligible for the remainder of this year however new management appointees are already making real progress in turning around the business. Product quality, delivery times and customer service need to be, and are being radically improved.

Mollers Homewares
Mollers Homewares has produced a solid result with both revenue and profitability increasing on last year, largely due to manufacturing efficiencies and management focussing clearly on, and meeting, customer expectation.
