AT&T Inc.announced a global networking contract with Foot Locker, Inc.the world's leading retailer of athletic footwear and apparel. The agreement extends and expands a long-term relationship between the two companies.

Under the contract, AT&T will provide an Internet Protocol Frame Relay Network (IPFRN) integrating Foot Locker's corporate facilities and more than 4,000 stores in 20 countries in North America, Europe and Australia.

The AT&T solution provides Foot Locker with a single unified network that dramatically increases bandwidth and data speeds, enabling Foot Locker to streamline point-of-sale credit card transactions, enhance customer service and improve inventory management.

The new network runs on AT&T's Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) platform and provides inherent disaster-recovery capabilities, superior levels of security and reliability and an efficient migration path to Voice over IP (VoIP) services.

"This solution enables Foot Locker to provide our customers with speed, accuracy and simplicity at the checkout counter and the best in-store selection of products possible at a very economical cost," said William J Johnson, director of telecommunications for Foot Locker, Inc. "We feel that this technology puts us head and shoulders above the competition."

Through the secure AT&T Business Direct(R) portal, Foot Locker will gain around-the-clock access to real-time information about the performance of its network and a direct connection to electronic billing and ordering systems.
