Salam International Investments (SIIL) has joined hands with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU-Q) alumni to establish a fashion company Folio Design House (FDH) in Qatar's first industry-educational joint project.

SIIL Chairman Issa Abu Issa and FDH General Manager Mona Fadel declared the company's formation in front of SIIL Executive Director Yasser Hamad and partner VCU-Q graduates. Fadel informed that to facilitate Qatar in achieving suitable position in international fashion and design, FDH aspires for global acknowledgment.

Mona Fadel said SIIL aims to improve quality of work constantly in interesting fields of fashion and interior design. She added that FDH was targeting the local market now but will get globalized gradually.

SIIL, which controls 25 business facilities in different fields, has 70 percent share in the novel enterprise.

FDH will provide residents and immigrants with company and private status many innovative services in fashion and interior designing which are in demand due to increasing richness in Qatar.

Fadel said that young designers and artists will be totally engaged with FDH, which lately got commercially registered and built at Ramada, from its start.

Considering Qatar's economic progress, she said FDH was optimistic that fashion and design had great scope there. This required provision of formal and higher studies to Qatari natives and making them conscious of their creativity.

She said FDH was still learning to compete with deep-rooted international brands.
