Solid execution of off-price fundamentals drive sales of TJX

The TJX Companies Inc reported September 2006 sales results. Sales for the five-week period ended September 30, 2006, were $1.7 billion, up 14% over the $1.5 billion achieved during the five-week period ended October 1, 2005.
For the 35 weeks ended September 30, 2006, sales reached $10.9 billion, a 9% increase over last year's $10.0 billion. Consolidated comparable store sales for the five-week period ended September 30, 2006, increased 9% over last year. For the 35-week period ended September 30, 2006, consolidated comparable store sales increased 4% over last year.
Ben Cammarata, Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer of The TJX Companies, Inc, stated, “Our consolidated comparable store sales increase of 9% was well ahead of our expectations, with every division exceeding plan."
