Michael Hayes to maximize Bon-Ton business

The Bon-Ton Stores Inc announced that Michael J. Hayes joined the company as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Administrative Services. Mr. Hayes reports directly to Ed Carroll, Executive Vice President, Sales Promotion and Marketing.

Mr. Hayes, 41, was most recently Senior Manager in the retail practice of Accenture, a management, technology and outsourcing consulting firm, where he led projects for the past six years at retail and consumer goods companies including Best Buy, JCPenney, Home Shopping Network, Sara Lee Branded Apparel, Saks and Walgreens.

His work included improving sales (trade promotion optimization), merchandising (category assortment strategy and planning optimization), marketing (media mix optimization, advertising strategy and process, pricing strategy and tactics, promotional effectiveness) and supply chain (vendor relations) functions.

Prior to Accenture, Mr. Hayes had a successful 14 year career in sales and management in the specialty retail and consumer durables industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from University of Illinois and a Master's degree in Management Information Systems from University of South Florida.
