Dick's Sporting Goods and some of the NFL's finest are teaming up again this year to help disadvantaged children feel the spirit of giving and the joy of receiving during the holiday season. A special holiday shopping event, co-sponsored by several NFL teams, is scheduled to take place in Dick's Sporting Goods stores throughout December.
The event gives approximately 50 underprivileged kids in each community MVP status through a special pizza party followed by a unique "personal shopper" experience with players from the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.
All of the participating children will be given a Dick's Sporting Goods gift card and then accompanied throughout the store by one of the players who will help them pick out merchandise to purchase with that gift card.
Jeffrey R. Hennion, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, explains the significance of such teamwork, "Being involved in the communities in which we do business and especially with the kids in those communities is a fundamental part of who we are as a company. Through our partnership with the teams, we are proud to once again host these great community events."
The events will take place in select Dick's Sporting Goods stores in Atlanta, Ga., Baltimore, Md., Buffalo, N.Y., Cincinnati, Ohio, Charlotte, N.C., Cleveland, Ohio, Denver, Colo., Indianapolis, Ind., Jacksonville, Fla., Kansas City, Mo., Minneapolis, Minn., Long Island, N.Y. and Pittsburgh, Pa.
It's expected to be an enjoyable experience for the customers who are shopping during the holidays, as well as for the kids and players selected to participate in the event.
