Bluefly Inc announced its first million-dollar day on Monday, December 11, 2006. By day's end, Bluefly customers ordered more than one million dollars of merchandise, a record in the company's history.
In celebration of this financial milestone and in the spirit of sharing good fortune, Bluefly has pledged a donation of 2.5 percent of the day's sales to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The donation will aid in the research and treatment of fatal illnesses in America's children.
Melissa Payner, CEO and president of Bluefly, celebrated the news when she offered the donation. “I am so thrilled to celebrate our first million-dollar day by sharing our success with St. Jude – their commitment to saving children's lives and the work they are doing is truly extraordinary.”
“Bluefly's extremely generous gift to St. Jude comes at a very appropriate time of the year,” said John P. Moses, CEO of ALSAC, the fund-raising organization of St. Jude.
“The holiday season brings about a sense of giving and hope, which is exactly what the children of St. Jude need. It's so nice to know that companies like Bluefly are focused on more than just the bottom line.”
Bluefly offers its fashion-obsessed customers in-season clothing and accessories from over 350 top American and European designers at a significant value. With savings often starting at 40 percent off, Bluefly is a key destination for the holiday season, as evidenced by its customers' shopping behavior yesterday.
Monday, December 11 marked the highest day of sales for Bluefly since the company was founded in 1998.
