Lavelle Olexa, Lord and Taylor's senior vice president, advertising, sales promotion and public relations, is delighted to announce the donation of 200 of the store's Christmas 2006 Exclusive Plush Puppy, to the children of CASA in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
CASA is a not-for-profit organization of special advocates that secure the best interest of children living in foster care. It was brought to the attention of Ms. Olexa during a recent visit by the Duchess of York to Lord and Taylor's Fifth Avenue Flagship for a surprise make over of Angela Henderson, a 37 year old mother of two and the program director of the organization.
During her visit, the Duchess sailed through Lord and Taylor's main floor warmly greeting astonished Lord and Taylor shoppers, including several groups of elated British tourists.
She and Ms. Henderson, whom she called "a true angel," proceeded on a holiday shopping spree while exchanging many life experiences. The visit was recorded by an NBC crew and was aired December first as a "From the Heart" segment with the Duchess of York on the network's popular Today Show.
"All of us at Lord and Taylor were thrilled to host Sarah Ferguson, such an icon of spirit and generosity of heart," says Olexa, "as well as Angela Henderson, a woman of such passionate commitment to her family and her advocacy for children at risk."
"We feel fortunate that the Duchess gave us the opportunity to know of her enormous accomplishments in Tulsa and are delighted to give our special Christmas puppies to the children of casa."
