Lord and Taylor's Lavelle Olexa, Senior Vice President, Advertising, Sales Promotion, Public Relations and Fifth Avenue Windows, was interviewed by Rodrigo Alvarez, a correspondent of Rede Globo, Brazil's most important network, part of the powerful news conglomerate that includes the legendary O Globo daily newspaper and several magazine titles among its holdings.
The interview aired in Rede Globo's prestigious Mundo S.A. last night. The popular TV news magazine, whose title literally means, World Inc, reviews global economic issues and business practices and trends around the world.
Mr. Alvarez' segment, filmed exclusively at Lord and Taylor, is devoted to portray how an American department store prepares for the crucial Christmas season. The interview delved into different aspects of American Christmas traditions in retail from special promotions and events to visual presentation, packaging and the all important Fifth Avenue windows.
"I was delighted that Rede Globo selected our store to portray American Christmas traditions in retail," says Ms. Olexa. "Having been in business since 1826, Lord & Taylor has been instrumental in the shaping of those practices. Our Fifth Avenue windows alone are an essential part of the idea of Christmas in New York."
Manoel Renha, vice president and creative director for Lord and Taylor's Fifth Avenue Windows and a native of Brazil, was also interviewed. Renha explained how the world famous windows are developed from concept to the smallest detail. This year's windows showcase pages from a magical family scrapbook through six decades of Christmas celebrations, portraying all the wonderful things that mean Christmas.
Interest in last night's showing was such that Rede Globo will re-run the show tonight and again on Saturday.
