The Bon-Ton Stores Inc announced the closing of its 60,000 square foot Younkers store located in the Town Square Shopping Center in downtown Sioux City, Iowa by the end of February 2007.
The Bon-Ton acquired the leasehold interest in the location in March 2006. The Company will not renew the lease, which terminates by March 1, 2007. The closing will impact approximately 50 associates. The Sioux City location closing costs will not be material.
Byron L. Bergren, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, “The Company continually reviews the performance of all its assets, and as a result, we decided the Sioux City lease renewal would not be exercised."

The affected associates at the Sioux City location will be provided with the opportunity to consider available opportunities to transfer to nearby stores or receive career transition benefits, including severance and state employment service support.
