In fashion industry, design for Levi's pocket has caused the biggest legal battle in US.
According to Levi Strauss, many of its competitors have stolen its trade mark for their own jeans.
Since 2001, nearly 100 trademark infringement lawsuits have been filed by the company against its competitors, a research firm revealed.
Nowadays, trade marks can be easily copied by minor changes to original one to exploit hot trend in the market.
Levi's is of the view that this lawsuits filed against competitor is not for compensation but to protect the defining features on its jeans.
Most of its cases are settled out of court, with rivals agreeing to withdraw offending products from stores and destroy unsold ones.
In most of cases, Levi's filed suit for copying its design of two arcs that meet in the center of the pocket or a folded piece of cloth sewn into the vertical seam of the garment.
Company even stressed that competitors should try to include designs that does not have similarity with Levi's trademarks.
