Payless debuts designer duo for fashion democracy

Inspired by her nine-week-old daughter -- Rosey Potter Jones --Lela Rose is also designing a line of infant shoes for Payless under the Teeny Toes Lela Rose Collection, which will be available at Payless stores this coming Aug. A few styles are expected to be unveiled backstage at Lela's show on Rosey and big brother, Grey.

Additionally, Payless will appear on the runway at Child Magazine's show, Feb. 9, the last day of New York Fashion Week, with styles from its ABT for Spotlights brand and the general Payless children's collection. ABT for Spotlights is an authentic dance shoe line created in collaboration with American Ballet Theatre, America's National Ballet Company. ABT for Spotlights, now available at select Payless stores and webstore, includes jazz, tap and ballet shoes for beginning dancers.

Laura Poretzky is a New York-based designer who designs under the Abaete label. She was born in France to a Russian father and a Danish-Brazilian mother, and raised between Paris, Rio de Janeiro and New York. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Laura went on to work at some of the most prestigious fashion houses in New York.

Lela Rose is a Texas native and 1993 graduate of the Parson's School of Design. She worked at Christian Francis Roth as Design Assistant and soon after with Richard Tyler as Design Assistant and Fabric Buyer.
