ORIGINAL PENGUIN, a division of Perry Ellis International Inc, signed Aaron Baddeley to a 3 year contract, and became his official clothing sponsor on the PGA Tour.
"We are proud to bring Original Penguin by Munsingwear back to the PGA Tour with the signing of Badds," Oscar Feldenkreis, Co-Chairman, President and Chief Operating Officer of Perry Ellis International said. After a twenty year absence, Original Penguin is back on the course.
Chris Kolbe, President of ORIGINAL PENGUIN continued, "This is a very exciting opportunity for ORIGINAL PENGUIN. This sponsorship will be a great platform to further develop our contemporary golf product line."
Originally developed in 1955, Munsingwear introduced the first iconic golf shirt, giving way to a new sportswear lifestyle, and became the first shirt made for golfers developed by professional golfers. The ORIGINAL PENGUIN logo was popular throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's and was worn by some of the world's all-time most legendary golfers.
Badds added, "I'm very proud that ORIGINAL PENGUIN chose me to continue the legacy of their authentic golf heritage."
In 1996, Perry Ellis International, Inc. acquired the family of Munsingwear trademarks and re-launched the ORIGINAL PENGUIN(R) brand as a complete sportswear collection for Spring of 2003. In keeping with the suburban golf and social club sensibility of the original brand, ORIGINAL PENGUIN has grown it's offerings to include a women's collection, denim, eyewear, watches, footwear, neckwear and winter accessories.
