Sotheby's Jewellery announces results

Commenting on the sale, David Bennett, Chairman of Jewellery Europe and the Middle East and Brett O'Connor, Head of Sotheby's Jewellery in Geneva, said: "We are pleased with the results of sale which achieved CHF10,593,600 ($8,592,363)."

"The top lot, an important marquise-shaped diamond of D Colour weighing 10.97 carats, sold for CHF 720,000 ($583,985), demonstrating the continued demand for diamonds of high quality."

"Signed pieces also performed well this evening with a fine diamond and sapphire "Panther" demi-parure by Cartier selling for CHF288,000 ($233,594) almost twice its high estimate."

"The fly whisk from the collection of the Egyptian Royal Palace reached CHF 85,200 ($69,105) against an estimate of CHF 75,000, while the Cartier Peacock brooch illustrating the catalogue cover sold for CHF114,000 ($92,464), doubling its high estimate." click here to view more:
