Johnston & Murphy is making a significant investment in growth beyond the footwear category by transitioning its collections of business, travel and fine leather accessories from a licensed business to an in-house program.

The brand is ending its licensing agreement with R. Madison for the production and distribution of these collections. R. Madison President Robert Williams is teaming with Johnston & Murphy to manage the transition of this category.

“We have made the decision to bring the luggage and leather goods programs in house in order to accelerate the growth of these categories by providing more resources and synergies in product, sourcing, marketing and sales,” said Jonathan D. Caplan, president of Johnston & Murphy.

“We are thrilled with the enthusiastic acceptance we have received from the trade and consumers during this initial three-year launch, and we are excited about the ability to build on this success for future growth. We are committed to making this a seamless transition for our customers.”

R. Madison will continue servicing existing wholesale accounts until May 1, 2007, when all wholesale sales and services will be assumed by Johnston & Murphy.
