Abercrombie & Fitch reported net sales of $204.6 million for the four-week period ended May 5, 2007 compared to net sales of $207.8 million for the four week period ended April 29, 2006.
April comparable store sales decreased 15% for the four-week period ended May 5, 2007, compared to the four-week period ended May 6, 2006. Total Company direct-to-consumer net sales increased 48% to $13.6 million for the four-week period ended May 5, 2007, compared to the four-week period ended April 29, 2006.
Year-to-date, the Company reported a net sales increase of 13% to $742.4 million from $657.3 million last year. Comparable store sales decreased 4% for the year-to-date period. Year-to-date, total Company direct-to-consumer net sales increased 43% to $43.5 million.
The Company expects to report net income per diluted share of $0.64 to $0.65 for the first quarter of fiscal 2007. Despite difficult selling conditions, the Company expects to achieve its projected growth primarily through prudent expense management.
The Company operated 355 Abercrombie & Fitch stores, 180 abercrombie stores, 396 Hollister Co stores and 16 RUEHL stores in the United States at the end of fiscal April.
The Company operated three Abercrombie & Fitch stores and three Hollister Co stores in Canada, and one Abercrombie & Fitch store in London, England. The Company operates e-commerce websites.
The Company will release its first quarter results on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, after the close of the market and hold its conference call at 4:30 PM Eastern Time. At that time the Company will provide additional information about its first quarter results.
