This partnership agreement runs for two years. From July 1 until December 31, 2007, Nike will supply footwear with premium performance technology to ABAT's Thai national boxing team for training and competition.
After that, from January 1, 2008 to July 31, 2009, Nike will supply apparel, footwear, and equipment for training and competition to ABAT's Thai national boxing team.
The sponsorship will also include support for ABAT's training staff. Fans of boxing will see the Thai amateur boxing squad in Nike footwear in an official tournament for the first time in the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Chicago, USA, around mid of October.
The Nike boxing shoes to be used by the Thai national boxing squad come in two variations: red shoes with white swoosh logo and blue shoes with white swoosh logo. Both of them are specially designed based on preferences of Asian boxers.
Their lightweight can be translated into agility, and with the cutting-edge cushioning system, the shoes provide stability to the boxers. The upper emulates a wrap from the foot up to the calves to give superior support and steadfast holding power.
This helps to stabilize the athlete as they move backwards to give them the support and balance they need. Material used for the boxing shoes is 87% nylon and 13% hi-tech Dry-Fit which has superior perspiration wicking capabilities, stretchability and durability.
