adidas and UEFA sent out the new Official Match Ball for the UEFA Champions League season 2007/2008, the “Finale 7”. After the ball boxes had been labelled by AC Milan Managing Director, Adriano Galliani, UEFA Director, Philippe Le Floc'h, and various Club Managers at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, the ball containers were prepared for immediate shipment to all clubs.
The new “Finale 7” balls for the 2007/2008 season will be delivered to the 32 qualified clubs within the next days after the group stage draw held in Monaco today. With the start of the new European club season, adidas will for the second time supply the Match Balls for all UEFA Champions League games.
Only reigning UEFA Champions League Winner AC Milan will continue to play with the adidas “Finale Athens” at all their home games in honour of the club's achievement of the previous season.
The adidas “Finale 7” features the successful adidas +Teamgeist technology, a 14-panel configuration. It reduces the number of three-panel touch points by 60% and the total length of panel lines by 15%.
This creates a perfectly round ball allowing great accuracy and control for Europe's best football clubs. The combination of the revolutionary panel shape, a new carcass construction and the thermal bonding technology provide this Official Match Ball with the best performance qualities ever.
The design of the adidas “Finale 7” is based on the widely recognizable UEFA Champions League star ball logo and is executed in orange, white and black.
adidas has supplied the Official Match Balls to all major UEFA and FIFA tournaments since 1970, supplied the Match Ball of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, the adidas +Teamgeist, and will continue to introduce innovative technologies and products to expand its leadership in football.
