Institute of Design & Technology (IDT) Surat is all set to showcase sustainable designs at the forthcoming International Interiors & Design Fair (INDEX), India's largest exhibition on interiors, architecture and design. IDT joined hands with India’s Limca book record holder Kanika Bawa and the Ultra Denim Group to create eclectic sustainable designs.

“We joined hands with Ultra Denim with a motive to promote eco-friendly design development and enhance new generation trends and fashion in denim production,” an IDT representative told Fibre2Fashion.

“The main idea behind this association is to put waste fabric to a constructive use so that there is a low impact on the environment in terms of waste and energy consumption, thereby creating sustainable designs,” the representative added.

The sustainable designs, to be showcased at INDEX 2019 from May 1-4 in Mumbai, include denim scrap cushion covers, wall art from denim, light fixtures, table accessories, and more. For creating the sustainable designs, IDT students were guided by Bawa, design director, Tattwam; Ultra Denim; and their mentors—Sakshi and Ekta—the faculty from IDT’s design department. (RKS)
