Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD), the biggest private design institute with 180 centers in India and abroad has in collaboration with Incentive Group of Companies opened its first centre in Kathmandu on August, 28.
The centre was opened by Femina Miss India Earth Niharika Singh, who hails from Deharadun in Urraranchal and whose mother is Director at a fashion design University. Her father who is a Tourism official in Uttaranchal also campaigned in her efforts to become Miss India.
She emphasized that fashion designing was a highly creative work and fashion works as a medium to reach the people.
Aditi Srivastava, the Vice President of INIFD, Chandigarh said that purpose of setting up centre was to nurture local talents so that they are able to promote local culture and heritage at the international level.
Manju Lama, Chief of INIFD centre in Nepal said the centre in Nepal had been set up to meet the requirement of quality education in fashion in the country.
Courses offered at Nepal centre include one year professional diploma in Fashion, Interior and Textile Design while some programmes are of three years duration as well.
The centre has collaboration with Los Angeles Design Academy (LADA) through which the Nepali students can go to LADA for further learning.
