Scuola del Cuoio in Florence, Italy's oldest school of leather, was founded by school president's father in 1950 with Franciscan friars of the historic Santa Croce Monastery.
The main aim of Scuola del Cuoio is to keep the traditional leather craft work alive.
It was initially set up to train orphans of World War II but eventually gave way to international students. These students take courses up to nine months.
It makes leather covers for manuscripts and Bibles since Renaissance times. Today it deals in leather bags, wallets, belts and gilded leather jewelry boxes.
