Punjab to emerge as 'global hub' for fashion technology

The blue print to make punjab a 'global hub' for fashion technology, textile designing and cotton goods was revealed by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on April 14 at CII cotton award ceremony for excellence in cotton production in Punjab.
Briefing the media at ceremony, Badal said that the plan would turn Punjab into a cotton capital of India and also most significant landmark in commercial designing, manufacturing and fashion technology providing employment potential for the youth.
The minister stated that State Government is in talks with major private companies for modern skill upgradation.
Delegations of progressive cotton growers and textile industrialists will be sent to China, Australia, Italy, Canada, France, Germany, UK and USA for updating their knowledge in field of quality cotton production, fashion designing and garment industry.
Badal invited key players of textile industry, farm scientists and researchers from Punjab Agricultural University to play an active role to developing modern technologies to increase cotton yield.
