Clare Waight Keller is the new artistic director at Givenchy and will succeed Riccardo Tisci who departed the LVMH couture house in January. Waight Keller was the creative director at French house Chloé for five years and she had announced her departure from it in January. She is the first female designer to lead the creative team at Givenchy.

The official Instagram account of Givenchy shared the news of Waight Keller's appointment with her picture and a caption reading "2017. Clare Waight Keller. New artistic director."

"Hubert de Givenchy's confident style has always been an inspiration and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this legendary house's history. I look forward to working with the teams and writing a new chapter in this beautiful story," said Waight Keller in a statement.

Waight Keller is likely to present her first collection for Givenchy in Paris in October, for Spring Summer 2018. (KD)
