Jalandhar-based Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad to devise a broad framework of the courses to be offered at the former and advise on the requirement of physical infrastructure, curriculum, pedagogy and human resources.

The prime objective is to kick-start the functioning of NIIFT Jalandhar Centre by preparing a ‘feasibility report and road Map’ from the perspective of identifying the opportunities and scoping the design education programmes that could help the priority sectors of the industry in Punjab and the northern region.

NIIFT’s Jalandhar campus is ready with affiliation from the I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University’s for the academic session 2021-22, according to media reports from the state.

This research and collaboration will help in the evolution of design education as per the growing needs and requirements of the industry.
