Pitti Uomo will take palace in June 2012. In cooperation with the Fondazione Pitti Discovery, Stone Island will present 30 years of history – from 1982 to today – in a grand exhibition-event at the Stazione Leopolda and a book. This event is yet another example of the Fondazione Pitti Discovery's commitment to supporting the culture of fashion.
The exhibition will offer a fascinating look at the firm which – with Carlo Rivetti at the helm – has always been totally dedicated to textile research and experimentation.
After last January's success, Valentino will be back at Pitti Uomo to stage this edition's special event. On Wednesday evening, 20 June, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pieropaolo Piccioli, creative directors of the brand, will present the 2013 s/s men's collection during an exclusive fashion show-event.
WP Lavori in Corso will celebrate its 30th anniversary with 75 years of Baracuta dedicated to the history of the recently acquired iconic brand and the new collection produced by WP that will debut at the Fortezza – right next to the firm's other labels. On the evening of 19 June, WP will host a British night, with live music, dj sets, performers and big video projections (at the Sferisterio, Parco delle Cascine in Florence).
After last January's success, New Performer Andrea Pompilio will be back in Florence with a fashion show - on Thursday 21 June – to present the SS 13 Men's Collection, in his unmistakable style that transforms Italian tailoring classics into new metro-wear. This project confirms that Pitti Immagine and Florence are indeed the leading springboard for launching new talents and emerging designers.
STEFANO RICCI, who will receive the Pitti Uomo 82 Award, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the men's high fashion label that bears his name with a fashion show on the evening of 18 June, to be held in a very special place that will be announced shortly.
