Iconic French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) will drop ‘Yves’ from its brand name and all its creations beginning Spring/Summer 2013 collections would be branded as Saint Laurent.

The rebranding will be applicable only to the apparel segment and accessories would continue to carry the YSL label.

The change in brand name has been introduced as part of the new head designer Hedi Slimane’s “extensive makeover” of the label.

Hedi replaced Stefano Pilati as the creative director at YSL in March 2012. He is now responsible for all collections of the brand as well as its creative image.

Under his creative control, Hedi plans to modernize the YSL label by giving it a more youthful and aesthetic look.

YSL label was established in 1960 by Yves Saint Laurent, the first designer to produce a ready-to-wear collection, who died in 2008.
